Key Jewellery Trends this Season

Key Jewellery Trends this Season

Now that summer is just a distant memory, most of us are wrapping up more warmly and preparing for the winter months ahead – usually meaning a whole change of wardrobe. With darker clothes needing more accessories to set them off, and winter being the time to add plenty of sparkle to your look, many jewellery lovers adore this time of year!

If you’re wondering which styles are likely to be most on trend this season, whether you’re buying Pandora jewellery or any other well-known brand, here’s a handy guide to the latest fashions:

Oversized gems are among the most favoured trends this autumn and winter, as evidenced in chic necklace designs from the likes of Michael Kors, Gaultier, Karl Lagerfield  and others in chains, necklaces and earrings. So grab something larger than life and start to attract attention!

Geometric shaped jewellery is another fall trend for this year. This can be seen in designs like mineral necklaces from Celine. These kinds of items can really set off your outfit and will set you apart from the crowd. That’s not to say classical designs don’t have their place – they certainly do – but now and then it might be nice to introduce an element of surprise with something a little unusual.

Medallions – Forget the ridiculously outdated Medallion Man image and be a Medallion Woman! This is definitely one for the more glamorous, and has been seen in some seriously luxurious chains this season from designers like Tomas Maier and Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy. Remember you can also use these to keep the image of someone you love close to you at all times.

Gold – This autumn it really is time to be a golden girl! Gold brooches and ear cuffs have become extremely sought-after, and ensure an elegant look for evening and dinner parties and big, glam nights out.

Animal jewellery – This is also on trend for the back end of this year and early 2014. Insect brooches have become all the rage, while Oscar de la Renta has designed snake earrings and turquoise and eagle necklaces. These kinds of designs will leave a lingering impression for all the right reasons.

Punk – This cultural and musical movement from the 1970s is also making its presence felt! So if that kind of music is your style, you’ll love Versace nails, barbed earrings by Rodarteear, and some of the bracelets which have been created for Saint Laurent. What a way to accentuate your unique style! Kate Moss was the face of Versace’s “Vunk” campaign, complete with glossy black PVC, studs and metal spike, while Chanel showed off a remake of its signature link chain during Paris Fashion Week, giving a rock and roll look.

With statement rings not for the faint-hearted also set to be popular this season, jewellery lovers can look forward to indulging in some gorgeous styles this year.
